AND IT'S SYMBOLIC!
Orochimaru (a King) is in check from Sasuke (a Knight) He is also in check from The clock, or time (a Rook) Orochimaru could attack sasuke with Manda (a Knight) But then he would still be in check from the clock. Kabuto (A Bishop) is not close enough to be of immediate help. But, if Sasuke kills Orochimaru himself, he will be in line for an attack by Kabuto. Problem is, what use is a Bishop when the King is already gone?
Basically, it's talking about the Orochimaru vs Sasuke fight (spoilers)
Orochimaru couldn't Kill Sasuke, because he needed him for his next body and he was running out of time. Kabuto wasn't in the room during the fight, so he couldn't really help, but now that it's over he seeks revenge on Sasuke.
Plus all the sound nin that have died in naruto are watching the game, like pieces taken out during the game.
This is so much fun to look at! Definitely a new favorite of mine.

I suppose that's why people stopped playing chess with me. Sigh.
Weeeell, back to what matters - this is definitely a new favourite of mine because Kabuto, Orochimaru and chess have got to be somewhere in the same league of Kabuto and caffeine. Plus I love Kin's 'expression' in the background, maybe you just intended her lying dead or so, but to me this is totally screaming 'I'm bored. I want to poke Manda with a stick.'
And uhm... I think I'll just walk away and fave quietly now

And yet this will never stop amazing me, not only because the art itself and idea would be so awesome (chess), but because, despicing that, if ANYONE who hadn't read the explanation sees this, he could arrive to that same conclution just thinking about it...! This is symbolic AND universal..:!!
